German Foods North America Projects

Cooperative Promotions

It is an unwritten truth for specialty products in any given store in the United States or Canada, that 70% of the annual sales are achieved primarily during two or four week of in-store retail promotions. This is when consumers become aware of and try unknown brands. However, the costs to finance such promotions can be substantial and too high for many small or midsize producers.

The solution: government-supported, cooperative, umbrella-themed promotion campaigns. For the past ten years, GermanFoods has planned and executed cooperative campaigns for Germany and other members of the European Union, coordinating all activities with governmental agencies, export associations, exporter, importers, distributors and retailers. The benefits: these campaigns create awareness of and improve the image of the country or region of origin, while lowering the costs and increasing sales for all participating trade partners.

Consulting, Education and Matchmaking

GermanFoods organizes retail buyer trips to Europe, exporter seminars in North America, and matchmaking events in both continents at the occasion of major trade fairs for the food and agricultural industries. The common goals: to introduce participants to the respective country, culture and local communities, educate them about industry structures and business practices and match the right buyers and sellers, based on their mutual objectives.

On behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, we serve as primary contact and market expert for North American trade partners during major trade fairs in Europe, the United States and Canada. In this role, we inform North American trade partners about new products and industry trends, advise and consult exhibitors and host matchmaking events and trade receptions.

Government and Trade Relations

GermanFoods participates and speaks on behalf of our clients at major conferences, public hearings or private meetings organized by the government, embassies, NGOs or think tanks. As a result, we have established and foster a wide network of contacts with public and private organizations in Washington DC, Berlin and other capital cities involved in the international trade, development and politics of the food and agricultural industries. We are members at the German American Business Council in Washington DC and affiliated with various food industry trade associations.
