Dark Berry May Bowl (Dunkle Maibowle)Dark Berry May Bowl, or Dunkle Maibowle, is an unusual, almost sangria-like take on the traditional German May Bowl. Instead of white wine and pale spring herbs, this version uses lightly chilled red wine, Darbo Holunderbeeren-Sirup, and a mix of dark berries.

It is refreshing but rich, fruity but not overly sweet, and beautiful enough to serve as the centerpiece of the table. Blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, and other berries float through the bowl, giving every glass a little drama.

Serve this Dunkle Maibowle for spring evenings, summer dinners, garden parties, or anytime you want a wine punch with more depth and color.
