Creamy Noodles and Ham

Schinkenfleckerl
A quick and simple version of the classic family-friendly Austrian dish. In German, schinken means “ham” and fleckerl is a type of Austrian noodle that is handmade and square-cut.

Ingredients

  • 14 oz Fleckerl noodles or spaëtzle or tagliatelle, 400 g
  • 11 oz cooked ham or Black Forest prociutto 300g
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 onion
  • 1/2 cup sour cream 100g
  • 1/2 cup whipping cream 100g
  • 3 tbs olive oil
  • 2 tbs parsley chopped
  • Salt
  • pepper

Instructions

  • Cook pasta according to package directions.
  • While the pasta is cooking, peel and dice the onion. Cut the ham into small cubes. Peel and crush the garlic with the flat of a knife.
  • In a large pan, heat the olive oil. Add the garlic and sauté briefly, then add the onions and ham and sauté.
  • Mix the sour and whipping cream together, season with salt and pepper. Wash the parsley, shake it dry, and mince it.
  • Pour the cream over the cooked pasta. Add the ham and onions and mix well.
  • Sprinkle chopped parsley over individual plates before serving.
