Broth with Pancake Strips

Course Soup


  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 3/8 cups milk
  • dash of salt and pepper
  • 2 tbsp mixed herbs
  • 1 onion
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 3 tbsp canola oil
  • 4-1/4 cups vegetable broth


  • Combine eggs, flour, milk, salt, pepper, and herbs into a bowl, forming a thin dough. Heat up 2 tbsp canola oil in a skillet. Make 3 thin pancakes from the dough, sprinkling them with sesame seeds while they are frying. Cut the pancakes into strips
  • Peel and chop the onion. In another pan, heat up the remaining canola oil and fry the onion, stirring occasionally until they are golden brown. Bring the vegetable broth to a boil, adding the onions. Remove the soup from the heat and add the pancake strips. Let the soup sit for a few minutes before serving.
