Kirschenmichel
Kirschenmichel is a traditional bread pudding made with cherries, chocolate, cinnamon, and almonds.

Ingredients
- 8 stale bread rolls
- 2 cups milk
- 5 ounces butter
- 4 eggs
- 8 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons Kirschwasser
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 4 ounces almond slivers
- 4 ounces semolina
- 1 packet baking powder, such as Dr. Oetker (or 5 tsp US baking powder)
- 2 lbs pitted cherries
Instructions
- Soften the bread in the milk. Whisk together the butter, eggs and sugar and add the cocoa, Kirschwasser, cinnamon, almonds, semolina and baking powder.
- Mix the soaked bread with the cherries and blend with the other ingredients. Pour the batter into a greased baking tin and bake in the middle of the oven (350 to 400 degrees F) for 15 to 30 minutes.
