Breaded Ham Mecklenburg Style

Crispy breaded ham is a favorite in the northeastern region of Germany.

  • 4 slices of smoked ham 1 inch thick
  • 2-1/8 cups milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • salt
  • pepper


  • Allow the ham to soak in the milk for about 4 hours.
  • Bread the ham with the eggs and breadcrumbs. Add salt and pepper to taste. Fry until crispy and serve.
  • Serve with spargel (asparagus).
