Pears, Beans and Bacon

  • 6 pears peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 lb fresh green beans broken in half
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 lb bacon
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice


  • Place pears in a pot with warm water. Add 1 tbsp lemon juice. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, simmer for 15 minutes.
  • While pears are cooking, cook bacon in a skillet. When crispy, remove to a plate with paper towel and reserve the bacon grease.
  • After simmering the pears for 15 minutes, add the beans and salt. Cook for another 15 minutes., Drain the pears and beans, and crumble in the bacon.
  • Add sugar, vinegar, and 1 tbsp lemon juice to the bacon grease and pour over pears, beans, and bacon.
  • Serve hot.
