Jackie Newgent, a registered dietitian and chef, is a food industry consultant specializing in culinary and nutrition communications. She’s frequently quoted in the print media and interviewed on national radio and television. Newgent’s extensive television appearance list includes NBC’s Later Today, CBS’s Up to the Minute, Lifetime Television’s Lifetime Live, MSNBC’s Morning Line, Food Network’s Follow that Food, and ABC’s World News Now and Good Morning America. Newgent is the contributor to Fitness magazine’s “Eat Smart” page, Weight Watchers magazine’s “The Menu” feature, and recipe developer for kidnetic.com. As a professional speaker, highlights include presentations for International Association of Culinary Professional’s Annual International Conference, First International Conference on Food Synergy, and American Dietetic Association’s (ADA) Food & Nutrition Conference & Exhibition. Some of her food industry clients have included Almond Board of California, ConAgra Foods and United Soybean Board. Additionally, Newgent is a culinary instructor at The Institute of Culinary Education, a consultant to Strang Cancer Prevention Center’s and MetLife Foundation’s “Healthy Children Healthy Futures” program, and, from 1999 to 2005, a Board member of Food & Culinary Professionals. She was an ADA national media spokesperson from 1998 to 2001. Newgent earned her B.S. in Allied Health Professions from The Ohio State University and Certificate in Professional Cookery from The Culinary School at Kendall College. She resides in New York City.
