The former First Lady of Germany, Christiane Herzog, wife of Roman Herzog, President of the Federal Republic of Germany from 1994 – 1999, shares more than 175 of her personal recipes, some of which were handed down to her from her mother, grandmother and other relatives. Many of these recipes reflect German “Kochkunst” (art of cooking), but are easy to prepare and affordable to make. Christiane was an accomplished and passionate cook and the book reflects her full breadth of experience with recipes from elegant state dinners as well as simple suppers. Christiane Herzog died in 2000, just after one year leaving Bellevue Palace, the official residence of the President of Germany in Berlin.
