Dresden Stollen is a specialty food with EU protected origin. It means that only selected bakers in Dresden, Saxony, can produce this food based on a specific set of high quality ingredients and century-old recipes. Some ingredients, as defined by the Dresden Stollen Association, must be included, like raisins, butter, sweet or  bitter almonds, and candied orange and lemon peel. Some variations include marzipan at the center, others do not.
