Charoset for Passover

Charoset is a classic standard dish, typically served after the Passover Seder. This recipe is made with apples, walnuts, dried cranberries, honey and sweet red wine. It forms a fruity-paste that can be spread on matzah bread. This sweet dish can be served warm or cold

Ingredients

  • 6 apples peeled, cored and diced
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup dried crannberries
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3-1/3 tsp honey
  • 1/3 cup sweet red wine

Instructions

  • Peel and chop apples
  • Place the apples, walnuts and cranberries in a large bowl
  • Mix the cinnamon and sugar in with the apples and walnuts
  • Add the honey and wine to the mix in the bowl
  • Stir thoroughly until a desired consistency is reached
  • Refrigerate for at least twenty minutes
