Crème fraîche is a popular ingredient in German stew, gravy, and even desserts. Although crème fraîche can be found outside Europe, it is often difficult to find in stores and is quite expensive. With just a few ingredients and a couple hours, you can make your own crème fraîche at home!
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp buttermilk
- Mix the cream and buttermilk well in a glass jar or plastic container.
- Cover and let stand at room temperature for 8 to 12 hours, until the crème fraîche has thickened. Refrigerate and consume within 4 to 5 days.
